Paper & Fibre Recycling Solutions

Why Paper Recycling Matters.

Paper and fibre products account for more than one-third of Canada’s total waste, with over six million tonnes generated annually. Only about 25% of this material is recycled domestically, compared to recycling rates exceeding 70% in parts of Europe.

Recycling paper is one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, landfill waste, and deforestation. For every ton of paper recycled, approximately 17 trees, 7,000 gallons of water, and 463 gallons of oil are saved. Paper recycling also cuts energy use by up to 60% compared to manufacturing new paper from virgin pulp.

How Blue Planet Recycles Industrial Paper & Fibre
After collection, paper and cardboard are sorted, baled, and shipped to paper mills. There, recycled fibre is blended with virgin pulp to produce new products such as packaging, corrugated boxes, and tissue.

Blue Planet supports both North American and export mill markets by supplying clean, high-grade recovered fibre. Our process accommodates three key feedstocks used in paper manufacturing:
• Mill broke – paper recycled directly from mill production
• Pre-consumer waste – paper discarded before consumer use
• Post-consumer waste – collected materials such as OCC, magazines, and packaging

Our quality control systems ensure every bale meets strict mill specifications, enabling optimal reuse and strong end-market value.

Sustainable Manufacturing & Circular Benefits
By recycling paper and fibre, companies can:

• Lower disposal and transportation costs
• Conserve energy and water
• Reduce landfill volumes
• Demonstrate measurable progress toward ESG and zero-waste goals

Blue Planet’s partnerships with domestic and international paper mills support a growing circular economy where recycled fibre substitutes for virgin pulp—reducing environmental impact while creating economic value.
